Tena jistilign (ጤና ይስጥልኝ) beloved. May the revelation of GOD's love be your share, oil of joy be granted to you. Sing to the LORD his bounties, tell the Redeemer your gratitude! And may "Hallelujah" be on the walls of your house!
" For one who speaks in an unknown tongue does not speak to people but to GOD; for no one understands him or catches his meaning, but by the Spirit he speaks mysteries [secret truths, hidden things]." __ 1 Corinthians 14 :2 (AMP)
I have several times, noticed in new converts a little embarrassment when they begin to speak tongues. I once asked a sister about this. She replied, "I am ashamed to speak in tongues when I am in a group. It is not harmonious, I still stammer, and very often I repeat words. How could GOD understand anything that I say? "Maybe you recognize yourself in these words. I know this feeling. However, it doesn't have to be. It really doesn't have to be.
Have you noticed that moms always understand the infancy of their babies? As soon did they say a word, they already finished the sentence. They interpret crying, screaming, and mimicry. A mother hears her infant cry, and instantly, she knows if he is hungry, if his diaper is wet, if he is hot, if he is afraid, has a sore gum, if he needs a hug or if he's on a whim. Some during their pregnancy were already speaking to the wonderful unborn creatures they carried.
The language of a child is enriched by daily exchanges. It is well known that the more you talk to a child, the faster they acquire words. The first words he speaks are the ones he hears most often at home, at nursery or, at school. Being the eldest of my parents, I was the baby-sitter of the last and especially the youngest. After the words "mom" and "dad", my first name "Christelle" was the following, then the words "hello" and "thank you".
When we begin to speak in tongues it is like a child, an infant, who learns to speak. It's not harmonious, it looks more like a repetition of syllables, a monologue, than a real conversation. But it does not matter. It's just the beginning. What seems to you to be only a syllable is a word in your spiritual language. GOD fully understands what you are saying. As a reminder, speaking in tongues is a gift from the HOLY SPIRIT received at the new birth. For sure, He knows what He gave.
Before you were formed in your mother's womb, He already knew you (Jeremiah 1: 5). He made you. He loves you far beyond a mother's love. Furthermore, He loves you with everlasting love, unconditionally, and responsibly. He has perfect love for you. So be at peace, serene, and filled with joy when you turn to Him. Prayer is not a contest of eloquence. Being a child is not a sin, refusing to grow up is. Do not deprive yourself of this wonderful gift, speak in tongues, pray in tongues, sing in tongues as long as possible.
