Movie selection #6

Bom dia lightball ! Boa tarde darling! Each season prepares you for the next. Keep track of your time and finances. You'll reap the rewards in the future. Choisis la justice, l'intégrité et l'équité partout où tu te trouves. "You shall not curse the deaf, nor put a stumbling block before the blind; for you shall fear your GOD. I am the LORD." (Leviticus 19: 17-18, LSG)

I don't watch Christian films exclusively. I only watch movies that edify me.  Just because a film is produced by Christians doesn't mean it's necessarily edifying. Just because a film doesn't refer to the Bible doesn't mean it's not inspired by GOD. I like films and series whose theme, message, script and images instruct me, encourage me, inspire me, challenge me and align me with my values. There's no shortage of books and DVDs at home. Personally and through my association Partage Ton Rhema, I regularly offer Christian books and DVDs of inspiring Christian films.

JESUS (the movie for the deaf)

* By the Deaf missions Ministry

" Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the FATHER and of the SON and of the HOLY SPIRIT, and teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of time." (Matthew 18 : 19-20, LSG)

" I beg you by the LORD: let this letter be read to all brothers and sisters!. " (1 Thessalonians 5:27, LSG 21)

This is the very first film about JESUS designed entirely for the deaf. It doesn't fall short of the classic JESUS films. The official release date is June 20 this year. Let's not hesitate to support this project. There are so many deaf people who could be blessed by this movie!

Hot Stove League

(Seutobeurigeu 스토브리그)

* Hot stove League /(hot stove)

❖ " He who is slow to anger is better than a hero, And he who is master of himself, than he who takes cities."

After four consecutive years of losing, Baek Seung Su was appointed general manager of the Dreams team. All the teams he had previously managed had won their championships. But they were all disbanded just after winning the championship. Between low blows from the parent company, budget cuts, squabbles between coaches, players' egos and team difficulties, the challenges are many.

This South Korean series is secular. It offers a glimpse into the world of club and team management. It reminds us how important courage, self-control, integrity, fairness, determination and team spirit are in meeting challenges. Good leaders solve problems and inspire others to do the same. They don't need to step on others to get ahead, and they know when to quit when the job is done.

Innocent Witness (Jeungin 증인)

" " Open your mouth for the mute, For the sake of all the forsaken. Open your mouth, judge justly, and defend the poor and needy." (Proverbs 31:8-9, LSG)

This South Korean secular film is a masterpiece! From the script, to the direction and the acting, this is a terrific film.

An old man suffering from depression is found dead and his housekeeper, Mi-ran, is accused of the murder. Mi-ran's lawyer, Sun-ho, discovers that the only witness to the crime is Ji-woo, a teenager with Asperger's syndrome (a form of autism). Sun-ho must win Ji-woo's trust so that she has the courage to testify. He must then demonstrate to the judges that his testimony is admissible. Along the way, he has to choose between defending justice or his employer's financial interests. For me, the message of this film can be summed up in two sentences :  " Open your mouth for the voiceless, For the sake of all the neglected. Open your mouth and judge justly, And defend the poor and needy." (Proverbs 31:8-9, LSG) In other words, pursue justice, integrity and fairness wherever you find yourself. Be known for your skills, character, values and faith. You are GOD's solution to save someone. Stand your ground.

Parenthesis :

While watching a video on YouTube, I heard a pastor and financial investment expert advise against becoming a lawyer, on the grounds that, in his opinion, it's a profession that doesn't make enough money. It was in a church, in front of thousands of people. I don't know what's sadder. The fact that someone as educated as he is would say such a stupid thing, the fact that he's a pastor, that he said it in a church or that none of the pastors present corrected him. It's not wrong to promote new professions. But to do so while disparaging others is wrong. Even with a good salary, if you mismanage your finances, you'll end up poor.

Silenced /The Crucible (Dagoni 도가니)

" Open your mouth for the voiceless, For the cause of all the forsaken. Open your mouth, judge justly, and defend the poor and needy." (Proverbs 31:8-9, LSG)

The film is secular, South Korean and inspired by a true story. The town mentioned in the film is a fictional one. The events took place at the Gwangju Inhwa School for the Hearing Impaired (Korean: 광주인화학교), in the city of Gwangju, South Korea.

Laws were changed in South Korea as a result of this film. Notably, the abolition of the statute of limitations for sexual crimes against minors and disabled people in South Korea (the Dagoni Law). The lead actor, gong yoo, read the book telling the story during his compulsory military service. As soon as he finished his military service (compulsory in South Korea), he convinced his agents and a production company to make a film about it.

Kang In-ho is the new art teacher at a school for deaf children. His wife committed suicide a year ago, and his sick daughter is being cared for by his mother. He's enthusiastic, but the children are aloof, avoiding him as much as possible. He finally gains their trust and discovers that the pupils are being physically and sexually abused by the school staff. Together with Seo Yoo-jin, a human rights activist, they realize that the principal, the school teachers, the police and the local prosecutors are trying to cover up the truth. They lie, bribe, threaten, beat and imprison anyone who speaks out. Following the death of a student and a teacher, the case becomes public. But it's only after the film's release that the laws in South Korea change, and the case is reopened for trial.

As with the previous one, for me the message in this movie can be summed up in two sentences :  "  Open your mouth for the voiceless, For the cause of all the forsaken. Open your mouth, judge justly, and defend the poor and needy." (Proverbs 31:8-9, LSG) In other words, pursue justice, integrity and fairness wherever you find yourself. Be known for your skills, your character, your values and your faith. You are GOD's solution to save someone. Stand firm.

🙂 I hope you enjoyed this selection. See you next time! Until then, I say, "  Open your mouth for the voiceless, For the cause of all the forsaken. Open your mouth, judge justly, and defend the poor and needy." (Proverbs 31:8-9, LSG)
