FATHER, teach us to count our days well

Updated: Feb 23

Tere publicator of the good news ! Bom dia writer of history ! May JESUS speak to you. May GOD the FATHER search your heart and show you what needs to be uprooted, corrected, healed, sown and watered. May the grace of the LORD be with you and may He strengthen the work of your hands (Psalms 90:17). May you be a fertile land, on which the seed, which is the word, watered with prayers and nurtured by obedience, bears much fruit and blessed multitudes.

" So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom." (Psalms 90:12, KJ)

Recently, I was watching biographical videos of John Knox (1514 -1572), John Newton (1715 -1807), William Wilberforce (1759 -1833) and Thomas Clarkson (1760 -1833). Wondering what the UK would be like today if haste, procrastination, indecision and activism had won over these men? Someone said the child rushes, the teenager procrastinates, the youth is indecisive and the adult wants to do everything simultaneously. What do you think?

How will you look at your life in 10 years, 20 years, 30 years, 40 years 🙂 I'm not asking you to imagine what your life will look like in 10 years, if you will be graduated, married, with children, etc. I'm asking you how you will look back on your past. How will you feel about your choices? How will you look back on your failures, your victories, your commitments? I once asked the HOLY SPIRIT, " How much time do I have to fulfill my destiny? " He answered, "The time you need, no more, no less. Just the time you need. Make good use of your time and you will fulfill your destiny. You will live a long time, but what you do with your time is more important than the number of your days." I closed my eyes and thought about the days that marked my life. Those days (happy and unhappy) that I will never forget. With my hand on my heart I said "Teach me to count my days well. Whatever happens, I want to look at my past with a smile and live my present in obedience to you." I invite you to pray with me.

One word from GOD is worth more than a billion eloquent sentences. Pray as you read. Pray in tongues as long as you feel the need. The HOLY SPIRIT is your partner. You must give Him time to guide you. Synchronization is progressive, not instantaneous. Pray with me, and continue after me (your words and your heart). Let us pray:

FATHER,

Thank you for the grace of knowing you, the privilege of approaching you,

the awareness of being loved and the assurance of being saved.

Thank you for your Word that enlightens, challenges and teaches.

Thank you for the ministry of the HOLY SPIRIT,

He who glorifies JESUS, teaches us, comforts us and transforms us.

Before us men and women said, "Teach us to number our days well, That we may apply our hearts to wisdom." (Psalms 90:12, LS)

Through David, You wanted this to be recorded in the Bible for our edification.

We also ask You for the grace to discern the times and seasons,

and the wisdom to make good use of them.

Grant us the grace to discern your voice in all seasons.

Keep us from unnecessary fighting and futile arguments.

Keep us from battles that are not ours, from relationships that are not ours

And from paths that are not your will for us.

We don't want to bequeath to our descendants the struggles of our fathers and the pains of our mothers.

Do not allow us to be slaves to our opinions and those of others.

It is written " there is a time for everything under heaven." (Ecclesiastes 3:1).

You make everything good in its time (Ecclesiastes 3:10).

You are the one who creates the times and orchestrates the circumstances (Daniel 2:21).

You give wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.

May we be wise and intelligent.

May we know what to do, when to do it and how to do it.

We refuse to be prisoners of haste, procrastination, indecision and activism ( doing many things without a purpose).

May lust and comparison never sit in our hearts.

Remind us that on the last day we will answer for the way we have lived our years on earth.

Give us to learn and keep the best of each season.

Give us to recognize the arrivals, transitions and departures.

We want to look at the past with a smile and live the present in obedience to You.

In JESUS CHRIST we have prayed, Amen.
