Don't pity yourself: Trust in GOD


Buongiorno son of Abraham! Good morning daughter of Sarah! Hold on, GOD is faithful.




" But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. " (Isaiah 40:31,NIV)


(1 Corinthians 10 : 10 -11, NIV) : And do not grumble, as some of them did—and were killed by the destroying angel. These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the culmination of the ages has come.



(Jeremiah 29: 11- 13, NIV) : For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

(Lamentations 3: 21-23, NIV) : Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.










Self-pity is an egocentric, excessive sadness or discontent with one's problems or life. In other words, it's making a mountain of your problems, thinking you can't overcome them, and constantly complaining to attract the attention and empathy of those around you. Those who feel sorry for themselves, consciously or unconsciously, refuse to assume their responsibilities and consider it the responsibility of others, GOD, and chance to make them happy or to do everything for them.


The self-pitying person refuses to do his part: to reflect, to believe in GOD, to acknowledge his part of the responsibility or his faults, to express himself constructively and objectively, to take an interest in others, to forgive himself, to move forward. The person who feels sorry for himself rejects the hand of GOD and believes that his grief is insurmountable and that his present situation is irreversible. Grief, pain, sorrow, disappointment, and discontent can be legitimate. But self-pity is not. Nothing is insurmountable with GOD. He is able to heal the soul.

When people feel sorry for themselves, they think they're the only ones with problems, or that their problems are more important than those of others. So they make sure that the subjects of conversation revolve around their problems, desires, dissatisfactions, and aspirations. They don't care, and they don't listen when others talk. Over time, this becomes tiresome. If they have a disagreement with someone, they'll tell everyone that the person is bad. If it's within a team, instead of reporting the disagreement to the team leader, they will meet with their teammates, without witnesses, to tell their side of the story.

When people feel sorry for themselves, they become ungrateful. First to GOD, then to others. The self-pitying person does not repent. He focuses on what's wrong. Even if sorrow, pain, grief, and discontent are legitimate, self-pity is not. There is no excuse for sitting in sin. Being hungry is no excuse for stealing. Being hurt is no excuse for hurting. Being well-intentioned is no excuse for hurting. Being sad or unhappy is no excuse for feeling sorry for yourself.


The only thing to do is repent and move on. Moving forward means rejecting thoughts of self-pity and filling yourself with thoughts of CHRIST. Moving forward is rejoicing in the good while preparing for the best 🙂 You read that right, I wrote "preparing for the best" not "expecting the best". Having faith is not waiting while watching. But, waiting while obeying. Faith is nourished by what GOD says and demonstrated by doing what GOD says. "So faith comes from what we hear, and what we hear comes from the word of GOD." (Romans 10:17). Do you want joy / fulfillment / strength / success / restoration / healing for your soul? Remain in the Word. Sing with the Word. Pray with the Word. Walk with the Word. Sleep with the Word. Live with the Word, "If you abide in me and my words abide in you, you will ask whatever you want and it will be done for you." (John 15:7) What you see and hear doesn't cancel out what GOD has told you.



(James 1: 5-8, NIV) : If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask GOD, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the LORD. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.

You won't get anything from GOD by feeling sorry for yourself. On the contrary, you expose yourself to the blows of the destroyer. Self-pity attracts demons. Spiritually, it's like a person who walks bent over because he has demons on his back banging on his head. Self-pity prevents you from receiving from GOD. Self-pity locks you into the strongholds of "I'm incapable, everything's going wrong, nothing can change, it's other people's fault, I'm the center of the earth" and so on. Self-pity makes you the guardian of your own failure. Self-pity makes you deaf and blind. In fact, self-pity makes you dig your own grave. Because you don't have faith, you don't receive the LORD's help. Without his help, you can't withstand the enemy's blows. As a result, you die at his hands.

🙂 🙂 In whom do you trust? GOD never lies. He has plans for peace, not misfortune. If you feel sorry for yourself, it's because you're not studying his plans. If you feel sorry for yourself, it's because you trust in yourself and not in GOD. If you trust yourself, it's because you think you're wiser and more intelligent than your Creator. Isn't that pride? I'm not trying to condemn you, but to help you confront your reality with the truth. You can't change reality if you're in denial. You can't rely on yourself and GOD at the same time. It's one or the other. Who do you choose? GOD lets himself be found by those who seek him. What are you looking for? GOD or people's attention?


The Lord appeared to us in the past, a saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness. I will build you up again, and you, Virgin Israel, will be rebuilt. Again you will take up your timbrels and go out to dance with the joyful. (Jeremiah 31: 3-4, NIV)
